KADO ASAMI – Fascination
(1) Midpaced and declarartory. This is a sort-of statement of intent form the beginning; lovely chorus; difficult to ID all of the instruments used here. MV 0/5 HNT 8/13 (for the use of ‘motto motto’) K 7/10. (2) Interesting start. Vague flamenco I guess. Asami has one of the most agreeable voices in C.P.. Bit of overplayed mandolinin the chorus. K 9/10 MV 0/5 HNT 8/13 (3) The slow one K 6/10 MV 0/5 HNT 7/13 Actually, the second verse picks up and the chorus is lovely. Vox are like ambient keyboards. Lovely bass solo! Imagine that. Changed my mind. This one is beautiful. (4) OOH! daytime spring with fountains suddenly transforms to evening. Tasteful guitar solo — POINT — one thing I like about this album is its willingness to give the instrumental parts some space. Hmm. This is an instrumental one. (5) OK. The real drippy slow one. There’s a theme emerging about the placement of these slow ones. “Masurete Hoshi”, the Forgetful Drive. Actually, there are some Mantovani strings in here, so it’s OK (6) Here is a nice intro ~ more of a Spring weather vibe goin’ on here. If this is a walking-in-the-park montage, it needs a cat in it. Also manages to be energetic and lively K 8/10 MV 0/5 HNT 7/13. Generally, a much more assured and together album than I’m used to, but oh my but do the singles stand out. (8) ANOTHER slow one? Seriously?? Nmmph. Nice ending, though. Reverb on vocals always works. (9) If this isn;t called ‘fancy me’ then it should be. (9) Low key and a bit dynamic, GOOD GREAT GOOD.
