KOSHI MIHARU – On the Street

(1) Twiddle Organ Intro. Semi-chanson 2nd verse structure. Happy-to-be single gal tune. MV 0/5 K 7/10 HNT 10/13 (2) Just about Go4 bass intro, ultralight NW guitars, cadence in 4ths. Nice keyboards. Basically, piano + Kbds NW MV 0/5 HNT 12/13 K 6/10. It’s not Sloop John B for chrissakes* HA! HA! Rick Keyboards!! (3) Wow!!! Just about throwing Throbbing Gristle into the loop. Oh man, this track is Vapourwave In Contemporaria, looking back at the actual age you’re living in. Every single little phrase reminds you of something you don’t remember. Ideas of what Ethnic Pop Music sounded like from cheap holidays and shortwave radio. HNT 13/13 MV 0/5 K 6/10. Spectrum games?? (4) Very-sincere-pastiche Lite Continental Cocktail Jazz with vibes. Quite Lovely. Do you see?? The slow one doesn’t have to be turgid….HNT 11/13 MV 2/5 K 7/10. Hankyu San Bangai on a Friday evening. Now, vibraphone solo. Can this album last for a very long time please (5) Stevie Squelchy-Grainy Keyboards, light piano and the fluffy-chanson keyboards we’ve gotten used to. The ALMOST DEFINITIVE DEFINITIVE HAUNTOGRAPHIC ITEM SO FAR. HNT 12/13 MV 2/5 K 8/10. (6) Just about a very wonky version of ‘Call Me’, and Bits of ‘UFO’, too. Goodness, this is ahead of its time. Is that a guitar with a harmonizer I can hear in there?? Probably the naughtiest track so far. (7) This almost certainly is not an invitation to a love hotel but it is a happy and carefree single-girls song. And the vox get a good workout too. HNT 7/13 MV 0/5 K 8/10. Just nice. (8) Aha!! The night-time one. Miharu gets sexy, just to prove she can 😉 HNT 10/13 MV 3/5 K 7/10.

*some time ago, I was obliged to do part of a job…in a place I didn’t enjoy very much. The only reasonable place to escape at lunchtime was a chain coffee shop where they played some long, long loop tape of vaguely-hippy late-1960’s material, but somehow contrived to play ‘Sloop John B’ every time I was in there, and as a result, I find that song really hard to stomach.
