MAMIYA TAKAKO – Love Trip (1982)
(1) modest vox; a little higher than I expected from the chorus. Mid-pace and HNT 5/13 MV 2/5. Meets expectations. (2) A bit more energetic than the usual Quiet One – nice busy rhythm section. Fat bass and cute flute. So far, struggling with exactly what atmosphere we’re going for with this album — Daytime drama? Daytime, for sure. (3) Getting the character now: lunchtime in Kobe, if Kobe was friendlier. Some nice brass figures in this one. Takako has a nice voice, a bit trebly for true greatness, but modest I think says it best (4) Twiddly guitar, nice string parts – even more modest than before. I guess this segues into evening from late afternoon, and don’t want to home not yet not just yet. (5) Got it and it makes sense – not quite real dark but the lights are on and it’s bayside. (6) Up-tick: lovely cadences and lovely vocals, too. I think it must be dinner-time by now. One use of the word ‘odori’ so far:: Steel Drums! Damn! I guess song is ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’. (7) It’s definately evening now and we have the first use of the words ‘osake’ and ‘kuchibiru’ in the same sentence. (8) Clatterbangwallop vaguely-timpani percussion and vox piano. (9) Synth strings for bedtime.
